Speech and Language Development Center, "SLDC" is a non-profit school and therapy center serving children and young adults, ages 12 months through 40 years of age. Established in 1955, SLDC has been a renowned leader in special education and disability services, supporting Southern California. This position provides qualified candidates the opportunity to be an active member of students development by working 1:1 and in some cases small groups implementing best practices for communication development, behavioral strategies and academics. As part of the student's team, paraprofessionals will work alongside our teaching faculty and robust therapy teams to implement a comprehensive individualized program for the students we serve.

Overall Purpose: The Adult Day Program Manager oversees the planning and coordination of adult services to ensure the highest quality services for SLDC participants. Provides clear expectations and consultation to Life Coaches and Adult Program staff to ensure compliance with program contracts and SLDC’s company policies and procedures. Leads their team to success in meeting program and organizational goals. Responsible for management and supervision of SLDC’s Adult Day Services, compliance with licensing requirements, and the promotion of SLDC’s mission and principles. Ensures completion of ongoing referrals, consultations, enrollments, and departmental growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the Adult Day Program.
  • Ensure proper staff coverage of individuals enrolled in the program and provide coverage as needed.
  • Keep the VP of Admissions and Programs informed of all program-related issues.
  • Chair all team meetings and attend scheduled supervisor meetings.
  • Act as activities coordinator and sign off on activities scheduled for all group rooms.
  • Manage Adult Day Program schedule.
  • Partner with local businesses and community outreach.
  • Maintain and enforce compliance with all funding and/or licensing entities, such as but not limited to Regional Center.
  • Assist with preparation for annual State Inspection for Licensing and ensure minimal citations.
  • Plan for new and improved consumer service in accordance with best practices.
  • Review and evaluate prospective Adult Day Program individuals; schedule meetings with prospective new individuals/families/caregivers, facilitate completion of necessary documentation; facilitate smooth transition and complete agency admission documentation.
  • Complete admission and discharge planning for individuals entering or leaving the program and complete all necessary documentation on a timely basis.
  • Oversee the scheduling of IPP meetings, the identification and implementation of goals and the completion of required documentation for all group rooms.
  • Review individuals’ files to ensure accuracy and that all information is complete.
  • Attend, as needed, individual team meetings, IPP meetings, parent/caregiver requested meetings, Regional Canter requested meetings, and other program specific meetings.
  • Oversee the completion of annual reports, quarterly reviews, and monthly summaries for caseload as well as attend meetings such as Individual Program Plans.
  • Meet productivity standards of the Adult Day Program.
  • Oversee the completion of Service Activity Logs.
  • Review billing of contract agencies.
  • Work with VP of Admissions and Programs to oversee the management and accuracy of funding units for individuals.
  • Develop proposals and update paperwork and policies in coordination with the VP of Admissions and Programs, as requested.
  • Complete semi-annual performance appraisals of assigned staff.
  • Oversee the completion of safety drills as scheduled.
  • Meet regularly for supervision with VP of Admissions and Programs.
  • Participate and complete special projects as assigned.

Relationships/Contacts: Supervises Life Coaches and Adult Program Staff

Additional Dimensions: Ensure service levels are communicated to accounting office following individual services. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Services, or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in special education or working with individuals with disabilities
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent clinical, interpersonal, and writing skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Intellectual Disabilities Field and Best Practices

Physical Demands: Standing 70%, sitting 30%, walking 40%, lifting 50%, computer use 80%, bending 50%, stooping 50%, lifting up to 50lbs, ability to implement CPR and crisis intervention/de-escalation training at all times.

Work Environment:

Must work on multiple, concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions, interact successfully with various groups of people encountered in the course of work day. Office environment is fast paced with high pressure.
