Salary$122,133 - $127,967 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Term: Full-time, Continuing (Contingent funded) (up to 5 years)

The Centre

At the ARC Training Centre in Plant Biosecurity, we’re building new capabilities for the plant biosecurity sector.

Funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), our Centre connects The Australian National University with James Cook University, the University of Canberra, and over 27 partners from across industry and government. Together, we will train the next generation of innovators and leaders in plant biosecurity to secure Australia’s agricultural, horticultural and environmental sectors from pests and diseases.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced and capable Chief Operations Officer to establish and lead the Centre, working in close partnership with the Centre Director and Executive Management Committee.

Our ideal candidate is a strong team player with high-level interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and partner organisations. Highly developed strategic, management, financial and planning skills are key.

We are looking for a dynamic and talented individual who can provide robust strategic advice to the Director, Executive Management Committee and key personnel within the Centre, as well as leadership to the Centre administration team.

The Position

The ARC Plant Biosecurity Training Centre Chief Operations Officer (COO) is responsible for providing strategic, administrative and operational leadership for the Centre.

The COO works closely with the Centre Director to attract external funding and investment, establish and manage key partnerships within and outside the ANU, monitor Centre performance, control financial commitments, manage human resources at the Centre level, provide high level advice to support decisions of the Centre’s Committees, and ensure effective internal and external communication by the Centre’s project teams.

Working as part of the Executive Management Committee, the COO will establish and manage systems, procedures and activities to support synergistic, collaborative and impactful work across the Centre.
