Job Responsibilities
Position: The department of Business and Economics is seeking applicants for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Business Administration, specializing in Finance, to start August 2024. This position is for full-time appointment on a nine-month contract. This is a unique opportunity to craft business programs in a public liberal arts setting at an institution that is nationally recognized for the quality of its teaching and students.
 
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate Finance and related courses (including Economics), develop curriculum that prepares students for success in the rapidly evolving world of business, and engage in campus- and community-wide efforts to drive the economic development in the northeast Missouri. In addition, the successful candidate will engage in scholarship, mentor students, and provide service to the university and community.
 
Applicants will be evaluated based on academic qualifications, evidence of teaching effectiveness, teaching philosophy, commitment to student success and development, potential for scholarship, interpersonal skills, and compatibility with department needs.
 
The Program: The Department of Business and Economics, a unit within the School of Business and Professional Studies, offers a BA and BS in Business Administration, with concentrations in Finance, Marketing, Management, and International Business. Additionally, the School of Business offers a BS in Accounting and minors in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Accounting.
 
The School of Business and Professional Studies holds both business and accounting accreditation from Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

The Community: Located in northeast Missouri, Kirksville is a cultural and economic hub in the region. In addition to being the home of Truman, Kirksville is the birthplace of osteopathic medicine and features a medical school, dental school and community college, and the Kirksville School District is consistently recognized for academic excellence. The community takes pride in several annual events including the Red, White and Blue Festival and the FLATS Trail Half-Marathon. The charming downtown area features an arts center, as well as several local shops and restaurants. It is also the site of numerous community events including weekly farmers’ markets from May through October, as well as the Red Barn Arts and Craft Festival each fall. Just a few minutes outside of town is beautiful Thousand Hills State Park with hiking and biking opportunities surrounding the 700-acre Forest Lake. Kirksville offers easy access by car to Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago and Des Moines. Required Qualifications
The position requires a Ph.D. or D.B.A. or equivalent doctoral-level degree(s) in Finance or a closely related field, such as Economics, completed by the August 2024 start date (ABD considered with an expected completion date within one calendar year beginning at appointment).
