Job Description

The Accounting and Finance Department at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Accounting - Auditing. The Cofrin School of Business values university-level teaching experience, the ability to teach a variety of general business and discipline-specific courses, a commitment to continual learning and knowledge sharing, and engagement in institutional, community, and professional service.

The successful applicant will contribute to an academic unit which is growing in enrollment, having degree programs in accounting, finance, and economics. Over the past several years the business school's Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Financial Wellness and the Willie D. Davis Finance and Investment Lab have been established and endowed within the Accounting and Finance Department. The Austin E. Cofrin School of Business enrolls a large portion of our growing university's students. The college and departmental connections to the region and its business community are extensive.

This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay's mission-driven inclusive teaching efforts and creating and maintaining an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Teach a normal load of undergraduate courses in accounting.
  • Courses will be taught both face-to-face and online (in asynchronous and synchronous formats). The specific courses taught may vary from semester to semester, and successful candidates may be required to teach an occasional course at the Marinette, Sheboygan, or Manitowoc Campus.
  • Perform intellectual activities, service, and professional engagement consistent with the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business expectations for a Teaching Professor.
  • Mentor students to increase professional development, career advancement, and engagement in experiential learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom.
  • Perform institutional and community service.
  • Contribute to ongoing program development within the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business.
  • Participate fully in the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business AACSB accreditation efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree or higher in Accounting or Business Administration (with emphasis in accounting). Candidates with a JD/LLM Degree and a CPA license will also be considered
  • Three years of progressive accounting experience that includes auditing
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Ability to teach auditing and a variety of other courses in the accounting curriculum
  • Evidence of engagement in institutional, community, or professional service endeavors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Teaching experience at the university level or in professional courses
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) professional designation through the AICPA

The home campus of this position is Green Bay and the successful candidate may be required to teach an occasional course at the Marinette, Sheboygan, or Manitowoc Campus.

Position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track, Instructional Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). SALARY INFORMATION

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
