General Position Description
Responsible for the leadership and management of Valencia-specific grant activities of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) for the Central Florida STEM Alliance (CFSA). The Director will collaborate with the CFSA Alliance Director (Valencia Co-PI) to ensure comprehensive leadership for alliance programming and collaborative support and facilitation of alliance functioning. The Director will oversee all operational aspects of LSAMP at Valencia, including program marketing, strategic activity coordination and planning, monitoring the Valencia budget, making informed operational decisions, and ensuring data collection, reporting, and other evaluation support for grant outcomes that lead to the goal of the project – an increase in the number of students who complete an associate degree at Valencia and other alliance colleges and transfer into a baccalaureate degree program with a major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).

Essential Job Functions
Description of Job Function
1. Manages all Valencia-specific activities as listed in Valencia College’s proposal to the National Science Foundation to include, but not limited to, monitoring the Valencia budget relative to the grant, making informed operational decisions, etc.

2. Collaborates with faculty and staff at Valencia College to offer STEM-related academic enrichment and support programs, such as peer learning leaders, workshops, transfer program advising, undergraduate research experiences, and internships with the purpose of increasing the number of students who choose to pursue a baccalaureate degree in a STEM field.

3. Convenes conversations and facilitates collaborative efforts of different teams to develop and implement alliance-wide engagement opportunities in STEM for students, faculty, and staff.

4. Coordinates grant related community outreach strategies for the College, including summer bridge experience for incoming STEM students and host sites for students to explore STEM and related issues of social justice.

5. Produces all end-of-term reports and data needed to compile annual reports and evaluate the project and completes reports in compliance with NSF requirements. Submits Valencia’s Annual Performance Reports and other reports as required.

6. Establishes, maintains, and communicates an informed understanding of the LSAMP project objectives to the project team, Valencia faculty and staff, and the community.

7. Leads and supervises the Valencia LSAMP team in creating and implementing the learning opportunities that promote the goals of the grant.

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
