The Laboratory Stores and Procurement Office II will be responsible for purchasing, pricing, storing, inventory, and selling of laboratory chemicals, supplies, instruments, equipment, and apparatus in support of teaching, research, and other requirements. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Five years in stores and procurement work including experience in purchasing and/or inventory control

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver license and good driving record

  • Must be able to obtain State of Texas class C vehicle driver license within 30 days of employment

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration

  • Fluent command of the English language

  • Familiarity with a forklift

  • Data entry experience

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Texas Driver's License

  • Certificates for Shipping Hazardous Materials by air and ground

  • Forklift certification

Responsibilities:

  • Procurement: Surveys Departmental needs for hazardous chemicals, materials, and equipment to support teaching and research. Prepares specifications for purchase of supplies and hazardous chemicals. Determines items to be carried on inventory and prices, coordinates negotiations between manufacturers and the teaching staff. Supervises the preparation of bid forms, checks and analyzes bids, and recommends awards on purchases of supplies and equipment using AggieBuy. Inspects and approves receipt of all purchased items and maintains inventories of teaching chemicals. Employs, trains, and supervises a staff of student workers and generates monthly stockroom invoices.

  • Hazardous Shipping Coordinator: Coordinates shipping of hazardous materials by ground and dangerous goods by air, as per Department of Transportation/I.A.T.A. regulations, using proper documentation (including paperwork and package marking and labeling). Must be certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Transports placarded hazardous material.

  • Compressed Gas Cylinder Management: Manages inventory of compressed gas cylinders for delivery/pickup for Chemistry and Reed McDonald buildings, and ILSB.

  • Special Chemicals Coordinator: Coordinates special chemical deliveries, manages stockroom liquid nitrogen dewars, and supports maintenance of LN2 Reservoir. Manages dry ice operation and serves as a Personnel Coordinator of Department Emergency Response.

  • Solvent Shed Coordinator: Coordinates solvents storage at West Campus Chemical Shed.

  • IT Computer Inventory Control: Coordinates receipt of computers to the department. 

  • Heavy Equipment Operator: Drivies forklift as needed to unload trucks and performs other duties as assigned.
