| Job Description Summary | The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences at Auburn University is seeking candidates for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work both independently and as part of a team to investigate the production and use of neofemales for control of invasive crayfish populations. This position is located at the E.W. Shell Fisheries Research Station of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. The individual selected for the position will be expected to help lead a multiphase program that involves development and refinement of techniques to produce neofemales, development and refinement of population models and control plans for use of neofemales to control invasive populations, and development of proof-of-concept studies involving the production and use of neofemales in experimental ponds. They will also coordinate a series of meetings with an expert advisory group, present findings at professional, stakeholder, and agency meetings, publish manuscripts in scientific journals and help prepare proposals for additional extramural funding of the research program. This is a benefit eligible, non-tenure track position. The appointment is for an initial period of one year with a possibility of continuance up to a maximum of four years depending on performance and funding availability. |

| Minimum Qualifications | The minimum qualification is an earned Ph.D. in Biology, Aquaculture, Fisheries, Natural Resources, or closely related field at the time employment begins. The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to conduct and help coordinate research designed to develop practical techniques for production of neofemale crayfish for use in invasive species control programs. Desirable areas of expertise and experience include use of RNAi, population modeling, crustacean ecology, husbandry of freshwater invertebrates, experience with analyzing data sets, and experience with manuscript preparation and publication. The individual selected for the position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States by the start date and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. |
