Summary of Job Duties:

The Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor within the College of Engineering. While applications from all research areas are welcome, preference will be given to candidates with a research focus in the areas of experimental fluid mechanics, advanced materials, and/or energy. The Chemical Engineering department is home to 16 faculty members with diverse expertise spanning healthcare, energy, advanced materials, nanotechnology, and sustainability. With over $23 million in endowments, our department also houses five endowed chairs and eight endowed professorships supporting our research, teaching, and service activities.
The duties of this position include: (1) developing and sustaining an externally funded research program leading to national and international recognition; (2) teaching and mentoring undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows; (3) performing service activities commensurate with the position.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field conferred by the start of employment

  • Demonstrated potential for high-quality research, including securing research funding and generating high-quality publications

  • Collaborative and interdisciplinary synergy with existing strengths on campus

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Post-doctoral research experience

  • Demonstrated potential for high-quality teaching and service to the department, university, and profession
