Job Description

The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) Business School invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position in accounting at the level of Instructor in Accounting. The role will entail teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in any or all the areas of financial accounting, managerial accounting, accounting information systems, taxation, and data analytics starting August 2024.

Job responsibilities:

A successful candidate hired at the Instructor level can expect a 70% teaching work distribution (7 courses annually), 10% service, and 20% research/scholarship. The instructor role has research/scholarship responsibilities that may consist of documented professional education experiences, participation in professional conferences, or publications in practitioner or educational journals. In addition, faculty are expected to demonstrate continued professional growth in their fields.

Required Qualifications:

Required qualifications for applicants include a Master's degree in Accounting or a closely related field and at least two years of professional experience in accounting or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the aforementioned required qualifications, preferred qualifications include professional certification in at least one of the following: CPA, CFE, CIA, CMA, etc., a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., J.D.), evidence of ongoing professional development, potential for or demonstrated experience with online teaching modalities, potential for or demonstrated excellence in curriculum development and service, and potential for or demonstrated engagement with the accounting profession.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for those hired at the Instructor level is $80,000-$95,000. Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
