The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University has a postdoctoral and more senior research position available in the areas of evolutionary biology and vertebrate paleobiology. The postdoctoral researcher will be based in the Simões Lab at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ, and work in collaboration with Dr. Frank Burbrink (American Museum of Natural History) and Dr. Marc Tollis (Northern Arizona University) on the NSF funded collaborative project "The Genomic Basis of Evolutionary Innovations in the Squamate Tree of Life". The postdoc will be responsible for collecting discrete morphological and geometric morphometric data of all major groups of squamate reptiles from natural history collections and CT scans from online databases; integrating morphological data with genomic data (to be obtained by other members of the project); perform total evidence phylogenetic and macroevolutionary analyses focused on rates of morphological evolution across deep time. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in evolutionary biology, ecology, zoology, paleobiology or a related field. *Excellent writing ability in English. *Creativity and the desire to work in an interactive and inter-disciplinary environment. A solid track record of scientific publications and conference presentations. Capacity to work independently and in collaboration with team members. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working with squamate morphological data for phylogenetic and/or macroevolutionary projects. Strong computational skills and programming experience (e.g., R or other languages) This one-year appointment may be renewed for a second year based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
