The Department of Economics, College of Social Sciences, University of Hawai'i at Manoa (Honolulu, Hawai'i) invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor (I-3). This is a 9-month, full-time, permanent, tenure track position to begin August 1, 2024, subject to position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in macroeconomics and international finance;
  • Supervise and mentor MA and PhD students;
  • Publish scholarly, peer-reviewed research in areas of expertise;
  • Seek extramural funding in areas of expertise;
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and relevant professional community;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Economics or a related field from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalent; ABDs will be considered but all degree requirements must be completed prior to date of hire;
  • A record of research achievement;
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in macroeconomics and international finance;
  • Ability to mentor and advise students in the applicant’s area of expertise;
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with students, faculty, staff and/or administration.
