Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Medicine – South Bend (IUSM-SB) invites applications from outstanding individuals for a Full time Postdoctoral Appointee position. Successful candidates will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting sponsored research on epigenetic mechanisms of vascular remodeling in pulmonary hypertension. A competitive candidate must be able to work in compliance with established molecular and biochemical procedures and will be able to identify and resolve readily identified problems. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the maintenance of equipment, data collection, oversee data and specimen processing. Duties to include but not limited to planning, executing, and analyzing experiments in an independent manner under the guidance of a senior investigator, epigenetic studies including histone methylation / acetylation and acetylome analysis, Spatial Omics analysis, culture of primary cells, facile in liposomal and CRISPR-Cas9 transfection techniques for overexpression and siRNA studies in primary cells, genotyping, molecular biology and biochemistry experience, Western Blot analysis, plasmid isolation and analysis using midi-preps and gel electrophoresis, tissue processing for histology and immunofluorescent staining, confocal and light microscopy, and PRISM statistical analysis, and train new students / laboratory personnel. A demonstrated competence in scientific writing and good presentation skills is highly desired.

Basic Qualifications
PhD degree with 3-4 years’ experience post-graduation with bench research experience including but not limited to molecular and biochemistry skills, epigenetic analysis, western blotting, qPCR, genotyping, technical expertise in small rodent handling and procedures, primary cell culture including transfection of constructs for overexpression and knockdown, confocal microscopy, ImageJ analysis, PRISM statistical analysis and graphing. Background in epigenetics and pulmonary lung biology are encouraged.

Additional Qualifications
Preferred Experience: Research experience in the fields of developmental biology or cardiopulmonary biology. A demonstrated competence in scientific writing, good presentation, and management skills is highly desired.
