Genetics/Epigenetics - Assistant Professor

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas (UNT), invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a research focus in Epigenetics. This includes (but is not limited to) research emphasis on studying epigenetic processes and how they influence physiological processes, demographic performance, development, disease, behavior, inheritance, and interaction between organisms and their environment. Preference will be given to someone working with organismal systems that complement other ongoing work at UNT. The successful candidate will use modern approaches in epigenetics and have the skills to work independently as well as in collaborative groups. The candidate will be expected to obtain extramural funding to support a vibrant research program and engage in mentoring undergraduate and graduate research and teach courses in their area of expertise. Courses to be taught may include genetics, epigenetics, genomics, or other allied subjects. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with a dynamic and diverse faculty, staff, and students within and between departments, including members from UNT’s Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering programs, and the College of Public Health.

At the time of application, the ideal candidate should have 1) a PhD in Biological Sciences or a related field, with postdoctoral experience,  2) a proven record or demonstrated potential to obtain external funding to support an active research program, 3) a growing record of scholarship and publication in higher-tier journals appropriate to the applicant’s field of study, and 4) an academic record demonstrating the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
