An opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow is available in the laboratory of Dr. Glaivy Batsuli in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation, and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University. The Batsuli laboratory focuses on elucidating mechanisms of the immune response to blood coagulation proteins deficient in patients with inherited bleeding disorders, specifically hemophilia. Our lab seeks to better understand the interaction of factor proteins with antigen presenting cells that result in antibody development against factor replacement therapies in order to develop therapeutic strategies that evade these immune responses and induce tolerance.
The applicant will have the opportunity to lead interdisciplinary research projects and work in a highly collaborative environment committed to team science that will include other collaborating scientists, physicians, postdocs, technicians, and students. There will be additional opportunities for training incoming students and other trainees.
This position is for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in immunology. The successful candidate will conduct projects focused on evaluating immune cell signatures with factor administration using transgenic mouse models and mouse models of hemophilia. Additionally, a translational project utilizing flow cytometry and transcriptomic tools will be performed to characterize immune cell gene signatures and subsets in patient samples following factor exposure to accompany the murine studies. We utilize biochemical assays (ELISA, clotting assay, electrophoresis, surface plasmon resonance), protein production & purification, mammalian cell lines, transplantation & adoptive transfer experiments, FACS/flow cytometry, and single cell transcriptomics (single-cell RNA seq and CITE-seq).
