Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Education and Employment Research Center in the School of Management and Labor Relations. This position will work closely with the Sr. Program Administrator to provide administrative and communications support for the center’s research with policy makers and practitioners in education and workforce.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Organizes and tracks center news, events and publications to promote with relevant audiences.
  • Tracks opportunities to disseminate the center’s research to key audiences.
  • Ensures alignment with the school and university branding and communication policies.
  • Aligns center’s communication strategy with funder guidelines and timelines.
  • Assists in writing regular newsletters for internal and external audiences.
  • Supports social media posting.
  • Updates the center website with new projects, publications, presentations, and relevant news as requested by center director and researchers.
  • With center researchers and administrator, assists in coordinating, planning, promoting, and executing online events and webinars.
  • Works with center staff to prepare conference exhibitions.
  • Works with researchers to design power point presentations.
  • Oversees formatting of reports and publications including graphics and layout.
  • Coordinates staff travel including making travel reservations, completing conference registrations and preparing communications material for travelers.
  • Assists with departmental purchasing.
  • Assists with grant pre-award processes and other administrative tasks as requested.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, exceptional communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires organizational skills and judgement when coordinating multiple communications and organizational tasks, the ability to prioritize tasks and determine when to alert their supervisor of challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in and familiarity with higher education and workforce development.
