Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Business Consultant for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Rutgers, The State University is seeking a Program Manager to oversee a coordinated clinical and laboratory-based NIH funded research program on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in diverse populations. The primary purpose of the Program Manager is to administer the research program, oversee research personnel as well as take part in performing the recruitment and the laboratory research duties.  Dr. Steven Brant, Chief, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, has a clinical and laboratory based coordinated research program to identify the causes of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He requires a Program Manager to oversee as well as actively carry out this research program. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Manage recruitment objectives including identifying study subjects with IBD and matched controls for recruitment for genetic studies from patients seen in the clinics and hospitals affiliated with Rutgers University and from other hospitals in New Jersey.
  • Manage recruitment objectives of healthy controls from varied ethnic populations for epigenetic studies.
  • Manage and complete Investigational Review Board (IRB) protocol compliance, annual reports, and assist and oversee new protocol applications. 
  • Communicate with other aligned or funded recruitment centers for IBD genetics research.
  • Collect biospecimens from study subjects and oversee junior research personnel that will also obtain these specimens under your direction. 
  • Manage and organize study files.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Masters degree in science.  
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate research experience in molecular biology, immunology or genetics.
  • Experience in IRB compliance and recruitment of human research subjects for biological studies.
  • An appropriate doctorate may be substituted for two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics or immunology, or alternatively M.D. degree with post-graduate dedicated research experience
  • Clinical research experience and especially experience in IBD research a major plus
  • Understanding of molecular genetics

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Reading, standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. Lifting up to 25 lbs. laboratory environment; exposure to study subjects in a clinical environment and exposure to research animal models. 
  • Work  Environment: Office environment with moderate noise. Must follow all safety precautions in laboratory, as required.
