Post Doctoral Scholar


Department:

Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in a research laboratory within the Departments of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. The prospective candidate will collaborate, design and conduct research on machine learning and artificial intelligence in medicine, such as disease association and prediction using large-scale biomedical tabular and image datasets, under the guidance of Dr. Raymond Gao. They will participate in research activities; perform analysis of data and prepare results of research for publication; actively participate in the recruitment and interview of prospective study participants; plan and design research to test hypotheses; create stimulus materials and perform testing of human subjects; assist PI with grant proposals to obtain outside funding from state and federal agencies; develop, adopt and implement new laboratory methods.

Minimum Education Required

Doctorate (Academic) or equivalent combination of education and experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or closely related program.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D in Computer Science, Biostatistics, Engineering, or related program required;  strong quantitative skills preferred; strong coding skills in Python, PyTorch, R; and proficiency in Linux/Unix system; have a strong work ethic, and the ability to design projects within the research areas and available datasets; possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and recordkeeping skills.

Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a preemployment physical, including a drug screen.
