Job Description


The Applied Materials Division is seeking a Postdoctoral Candidate in synthetic organic chemistry with a focus on new organic materials, process R&D and scale up. This position will primarily involve work on materials synthesis and characterization in a laboratory environment. Use-testing of new materials will also be required. Previous experience with organic synthesis is necessary for the successful candidate. Candidates with experience in Green chemistry are preferred.

The candidate will design or modify laboratory procedures and protocols, develop experimental designs, run technical experiments, make detailed observations, collect, and analyze data, and effectively report results. Candidates will be expected to formally present research progress for both internal and external audiences.

Position Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with 0 to 3 years of post-graduate experience.

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas: organic chemistry and synthesis, Green chemistry, proficiency in use of common analytical tools used to characterize organic molecules.

  • Experience in continuous flow techniques.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and on a timely basis with the laboratory supervisory personnel on all developments or matters resulting from laboratory work activities.

  • Ability to collect detailed data and maintain organized notebooks and project files.

  • Proven ability to be an excellent team player.

  • A high commitment to safety in a workspace.

  • Basic knowledge of polymer materials and chemistry.
