Software Engineer, Biomedical Engineering

Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia is seeking a Software Engineer in Dr. Kristen Naegle's laboratory to work on hardening and further development of an algorithm to predict patient-specific kinase activities. The Naegle lab is a vibrant and interdisciplinary team of undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and lab staff that seek to help develop approaches to further our understanding of cell signaling in healthy and diseased states. They have a long history of producing robust and open-source software to advance biological and biomedical discoveries.

The software engineer will be responsible for developing software and working collaboratively with a team of scientists at UVA and beyond for deployment of algorithmic pipelines on a cloud-based infrastructure. Excellent development of documentation, testing, and robust code is a necessity to enable the potential of a large clinical impact. The development team will work together to identify and develop further algorithm advances, along with making the algorithm easy-to-use for clinicians.
