The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is Rutgers’ enterprise IT office. OIT provides university wide services and support and collaborates with department and unit IT professionals on projects and initiatives for the Rutgers community. OIT’s services and systems include the Rutgers network; email and calendaring systems; IDs/passwords and identity management; data centers; computer labs; help desk support; wireless connectivity; a software portal; information security, risk, and compliance services; research computing; and many others. Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a User Support Services Specialist IV for the Office of Information Technology (OIT). This position provides desktop support, classroom technology support, help-desk functions, etc.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Works under close supervision, this position may also carry out specific functions in Microsoft Windows server administration.
  • Assists with the ongoing support of computer environments department wide, with special efforts geared towards end-user questions, deployments, and problems.
  • Conducts hands-on training sessions and instructional classes for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assists in the development of support procedures, maintain of software and documentation as well as remain up to date in new developments and technologies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A Minimum of One year experience working knowledge of desktop software and operating systems currently in use.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good communication skills, basic consultative, and organizational skills, and computer literacy.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft and Apple computer operating systems, Windows Server 2012\2016, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and SPSS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Personable and cordial with people.
  • Computer Hardware.
  • Microsoft and Apple computer operating systems.

Immunization Requirements
