Among the key duties of this position: 
  • Lead personnel for a 3 years FDA funded proposal 
  • Compound topical formulations 
  • Perform HPLC data analysis 
  • Perform skin permeability testing and drug release testing 
  • Rheology 
  • Order needed equipment and supplies 
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies consumed 
  • Supervision of graduate and undergraduate students working on the project 
  • Prepare monthly progress reports 
  • Attend monthly FDA meetings

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
PhD in pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related subject with 1 year’s experience.  
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • PhD in pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related subject.  
  • Experience in compounding topical formulations particularly creams & gels; characterization of topically applied pharmaceutical formulations; HPLC analysis, skin permeation testing; drug release testing, rheology, formulation microstructure and statistical data analysis.  
  • Preferred experience in FDA guidance on topicals. 
  • Candidate must be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to problem solve and plan/carry out research project and work on own initiative, taking personal responsibility for delivery of work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.

Equipment Utilized
HPLC; differential scanning calorimetry DSC, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, Franz diffusion cells; water activity meter. 
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires a fully on-site work environment on the BUSCH campus.  Evening and weekend hours as needed.
