Position Summary
Department Information:
The Department of Chemistry consists of a well-rounded research community with cutting-edge expertise in a wide variety of modern disciplines including analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, and biochemistry.
The chemical biology area of the Department of Chemistry is located in Simon Hall, home to our graduate training program in Quantitative and Chemical Biology and nearby other biochemists and structural biologists and all structural biology and analytical chemistry core facilities. Physical proximity promotes strong interactions with other groups in the inorganic, analytical and materials areas. 
Job Summary:
Prof. David Giedroc seeks an assistant research scientist as a member of multidisciplinary team of students and staff tasked with understanding the bacterial metabolic response to hydrogen sulfide stress or the restriction of essential transition metal ions by the host during an infection.

Position summary: 
The Giedroc laboratory at Indiana University in Bloomington seeks to appoint an assistant research scientist to conduct biochemical, structural and mechanistic studies of enzymes that function in the pathogen response to host stressors, including reactive sulfur species and the transition metal starvation. The position is supported by an NIH grant(s), and support is provided for up to three years, pending satisfactory progress, with an opportunity for an extension. 
Basic Qualifications
 Required qualifications: 
A Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology or a related discipline, with some postdoctoral experience required.  
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in biochemical methods, recombinant protein purification, bioinorganic chemistry and structural biology methods is desired. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a strong outcomes orientation.
