INTRODUCTION

The Assistant Research Professor contributes to the Center for Clean Energy Engineering's major research projects in clean energy technology, including decarbonization, hydrogen production, and electric aviation. The duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below, including but not limited to managing current projects, advancing our research in both theory and experiments, and preparing future competitive proposals, especially in energy storage and hydrogen production areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the theoretical and experimental research on fuel cells, electrolyzers, and batteries.
• Develop innovative applied research concepts.
• Write reports and technical papers.
• Write and participate in the preparation of funding proposals.
• Travel to support project activities.
• Advise students and postdoctoral fellows.
• Interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and project partners.
• Present project results to clients.
• Present papers at national and international conferences.
• Perform management duties for research and office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in engineering or a physical science.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prepare funding proposals, experimental plans, and technical reports.
• Experience with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Proven interest in advanced energy technology.
• Innovative approach to energy technology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 5 years of working experience in academia, industry, and/or national labs in the fields of batteries, fuel cells, and electrolyzers.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2024. Subsequent annual reappointment is contingent on performance and program funding. This position may be required to travel in order to support project objectives.
