Assistant or Associate Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience

Job Description


INTRODUCTION

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut in Storrs invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor who would join a relevant discipline within the College (e.g., Psychological Sciences, Linguistics, Mathematics, Physiology & Neurobiology, Human Development and Family Studies, Speech Language and Hearing Sciences), with an expected start date of August 23, 2024. We encourage applications from individuals who pursue fundamental questions in any area of cognitive neuroscience and who have strong theoretical and technical expertise in MRI. Additional expertise in methods such as EEG and TMS is also desired. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an active research program in cognitive neuroscience, leading to extramural funding and high-quality publications. The successful candidate will also participate in teaching and mentorship at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including a course on imaging modalities and processing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. or international equivalent in psychological sciences, cognitive science, neuroscience, engineering, or a related field by August 2024.
  • An outstanding scholarly record including publications in leading journals.
  • A vibrant research program with evidence of (or promise of) external funding.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in the home department.
  • At least two years of postdoctoral research experience in an area of cognitive neuroscience and/or neuroimaging using MRI/EEG/TMS that can be integrated with existing strengths in the College.
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience and academic community through research, teaching, and/or service.
  • Able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in MRI and other imaging methodologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Teaching experience including the integration of technology into instruction and online instruction.
  • Experience with independent research proposal development, ideally with a record of funding from national agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research.
  • An innovative, collaborative, and/or multidisciplinary research approach.
  • Active participation in major professional societies and international meetings.
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of (or promise of) obtaining external research support.
  • Evidence of excellence in support of teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Ability to integrate with one/more faculty in related graduate programs.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2024. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
