Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting

Job Description

The Department of Accounting, Economics, Finance and Sports Business, within The Tapia College of Business (TCOB), is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time faculty position to teach Accounting courses at our main campus in St. Leo, Florida. The position is a 9-month contract that requires teaching 4 classes in both the Fall and Spring semesters, which can include both undergraduate and graduate courses. Travel to a center to teach an evening class or a Saturday class may be required.
An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level.

 
Job Description
 
Duties and Tasks:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate classes
  • Teach traditional and non-traditional age students
  • Teach both on-ground and online
  • Stay current in field through research, certifications, and/or professional development
  • Advise students
  • Support program recruiting and retention efforts
  • Support departmental and College initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson and/or Dean
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 
Knowledge:
  • A Doctorate degree in Accounting, or a closely related field, from a regionally accredited institution with credentials to teach Accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate level per accreditation guidelines (minimum of 18 graduate semester credits in Accounting).
  • A MBA (or Masters in Accounting) with an active CPA or CMA license and 5 years of experience will be considered.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
 
Knowledge:
  • The preferred candidate will possess the necessary graduate semester hours to also teach Finance (see Required Knowledge).
  • CPA, CMA, or similar certification
  • 2-3 years teaching experience

  • Student Evaluations (six classes minimum) – Student evaluations from the last year (at least six classes, an even mix of graduate and undergraduate).
