CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The Impression Formation Social Neuroscience Lab (IFSN Lab), co-directed by Dr. Jasmin Cloutier and Dr. Jennifer Kubota, is housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Delaware. It investigates how we form impressions of others and how these impressions influence behavior, using both behavioral and neuroimaging methods. For more information about the lab's research, please visit ifsnlab.org.The Project Coordinator¿s role will support a large three-year multi-method grant funded by the DOD investigating cross-cultural dynamics of social status and power among individuals varying in authoritarian world views. The project integrates social media data (using large language models and text analysis), computational modeling, and neuroimaging methods (fMRI, mobile EEG).The Project Coordinator will support the PI's, Graduate Students', and Postdoctoral Researcher's research efforts and help with administrative and research responsibilities. This position is expected to be renewed on a 12-month basis for the three years, dependent upon performance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee research projects in the lab to ensure completion of research in a timely, efficient, and valid manner. This includes handling IRB submissions/renewals, participant recruitment/ enrollment, data collection, workflow issues, data analysis, and help with publication preparation.
  • Supervise assignment of tasks among staff and undergraduate students to ensure equal distribution of assignments as well as adequate staffing, space, and equipment for subsequent performance of duties.
  • Along with the PIs, Graduate Students, and Postdoctoral Researcher, this position is responsible for hiring and training undergraduate research assistants as well as providing feedback, tracking their progress, and conducting performance appraisals.
  • Create and implement new policies while also ensuring that all current policies and procedures in the lab are being adhered to.¿ Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Handle purchasing and receipt processing.
  • Assists with special projects and performs other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • Experience related to administering research.
  • Knowledge of procedures pertaining to human subjects research.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication, human relations, and listening skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Ability to assign work and handle workflow issues regarding undergraduate research assistants.
  • Ability to analyze research methodology, protocol, and procedures.
  • Ability to evaluate and provide feedback to staff that result in the collection of valid and reliable data collection.
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management preferred.
  • Skill in the use of programing languages used for experiment presentation and data analysis (particularly R and Python) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods preferred.
  • Experience with collecting and processing neuroimaging data. 
  • Especially fMRI preferred.
