Department Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) in the Ryan College of Business at UNT supports undergraduate degrees in Finance; Real Estate; and Risk, Insurance and Financial Services (Risk and Insurance track and Financial Planning track); an MS in Finance and an MBA with Finance concentration; and a Ph.D. in Finance program. The department consists of 18 tenure track/tenured faculty, three clinical faculty, three lecturers and three staff. Department faculty regularly publish in recognized journals in their fields. Research is actively supported through subscription to databases such as WRDSCRSPCompustatBloombergMSCI ESG metrics (climate change, corporate and funds), S&P Global Market Intelligence (Banking, Insurance and Real Estate modules), S&P Capital IQBoardExThomson Reuters SDC(most modules), Refinitiv IBES Analyst Forecast DataMorningstar DirectEventus and Audit Analytics.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law, at the University of North Texas G. Brint Ryan College of Business, invites applications for the appointment of a full-time Lecturer in Business Law starting in Spring 2024, however consideration may be extended to Fall 2024. The lecturer will teach four business and real estate law courses per semester, advise students, and provide service to the department, college, and university. Teaching will be at the Denton main campus and Frisco branch campus (face-to-face and/or online/remote). Courses will include some of following, as needed by the department, college, and university: the Legal Environment of Business, International Business Law, Real Estate Law, Corporation Law, Law for Accountants and Managers, and Law for Managers and Entrepreneurs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school at the time of application and significant professional/technical experience related to the area of teaching responsibility.
  • Record must be sufficient to qualify as a practice academic according the AACSB standards.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching business law courses at the university level.
  • Record of positive teaching evaluations for university level courses.
  • Teaching experience with online platforms (Canvas or Blackboard).
  • MBA or appropriate master’s degree
  • Ability to produce applied and/or pedagogical research.
