CCC’s Imani Center is seeking a Culturally Specific Mental Health & Addiction Counselor, QMHP & CADC

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. May include occasional evening hours to accommodate program needs.

The Culturally Specific Mental Health & Addiction Counselor, QMHP/CADC works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team that provides mental health and addictions outpatient treatment services to Black & African American individuals.

Imani offers a range of outreach-based, integrated, culturally specific services including mental health, substance use, and case management. The team works to address all treatment needs, including preventative services, crisis management, substance use treatment, medication management, physical health treatment, mental health treatment, accessing benefits and entitlements, and accessing appropriate and affordable housing.

All these services will promote & support emotional well-being, mental health, and healthy identity, in order to engage, maintain and successfully transition individuals in the Black & African American community into sustained recovery and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in culturally specific outreach efforts to engage prospective clients, including appointments, home visits, and community-based service
  • Develop relationships with organizations, providers, community leaders, and advocacy groups serving the Black & African American community.
  • Connect participants with culturally specific community services and supports.
  • Collect information regarding clients’ history through a combination of interviewing, records review, and consultation, after obtaining written consent.
  • Conduct and document Mental Health & Addiction Assessments, including mental status exam, DSM diagnosis, and clinical formulation.
  • Use a culturally sensitive lens to guide all aspects of service delivery, ensuring that the impact of socio-political & cultural factors is consistently considered.
  • Maintain client records and document as required by program standards and funding requirements including documentation of clinical interactions, behavioral health assessments & individual service plans.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a human services field and one year experience in mental health and must meet State guidelines for QMHP.
  • At a minimum, must meet state guidelines for QMHP and be licensed/certified with the appropriate board.
  • Must have a minimum of a CADC I, or be currently registered as a CADC-R with the appropriate Oregon board and able to meet the credentialing requirements for CADC I under the terms of the hiring agreement with Central City Concern. A CADC-R will be considered based on experience in the field and previous education hours.
  • Current CPR certification required or obtain before employment
  • Experience with culturally specific outpatient mental health services required.
  • Must have reliable access to transportation for regular outreach activities. If using a vehicle for agency use: Must possess a current driver’s license, access to a vehicle, qualify as an Acceptable Driver as designated in Central City Concern’s Fleet Safety policy; pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training; and maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB Test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
  • Will be required to carry an agency cell phone for work use. A cell phone will be provided by Central City Concern.
