Assistant Professor – Epigenetics

Job Description


The Department of Biology at Syracuse University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of epigenetics. We welcome applications from individuals investigating epigenetic phenomena, broadly defined, using any experimental system. The Biology faculty are highly collaborative within and across departments at Syracuse University. The candidate is expected to complement and build upon our existing strengths and will have the opportunity to interact with other scientists in the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the BioInspired Institute. The Department of Biology also has strong research and educational ties to the adjacent State University of New York Upstate Medical University and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant area of biology or biochemistry and an outstanding record of research experience at the postdoctoral level. The candidate is expected to develop a vigorous externally funded research program and participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring in the areas of their expertise. Syracuse University is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate past accomplishment toward fostering diversity and building an inclusive climate in research and/or teaching to maximize their effectiveness interacting with diverse groups of colleagues, students, and community members.
