The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking a Senior Manager in Medical Affairs division. ADA has dedicated itself to supporting people with diabetes. ADA produces Standards of Care (SOC) documents and consensus reports evaluating the clinical effectiveness and value of treatments, diagnostic tests, and technology used in the management of diabetes. These reports have strongly influenced clinical practice and insurance coverage policies while gaining prominence within the national debate over the management of people with diabetes.

The Medical Affairs Senior Manager participates in the development of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, consensus reports, and scientific statements by collaborating with other ADA staff, volunteers and working groups.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of literature searches.
  • Screening articles and abstracting relevant data to produce evidence tables.
  • Use established tools to evaluate the quality of the evidence.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders with scheduling virtual meetings, responding to questions, organizing documents/drafts, coordinating SharePoint/Basecamp, maintaining record of disclosures, obtaining articles.
  • Organizing updated and new recommendations for Professional Practice Committee (PPC) voting and approval.
  • Assisting in manuscript preparation and submission (writing, literature searching and review, reference management, formatting, submission, reviewing proofs, etc.).
  • Soliciting and engaging with external peer-reviewers and liaising with collaborating organizations (feedback/endorsement).
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (publications, professional engagement) to meet objectives and milestones for SOC, consensus reports, and advocacy statement publication.
  • Assist in creating and disseminating post-production materials (e.g., slide deck, press release, etc.).
  • Liaising with SOC App developers.
  • Work closely with faculty participating in programs, including invitations, logistics (virtual and in-person), processing honoraria, and other details.
  • Participate actively in the planning and execution of in-person meetings for PPC and other consensus writing groups.
  • Ensure that milestones and timelines are on track for simultaneously operating projects.
 


QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED SKILLS:

We are looking for proactive individuals with strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Candidates should have a strategic mindset, the ability to identify potential issues and suggest solutions is a valued quality. Previous experience with methodologies or techniques would aid with this; however, it is not essential as ADA will provide relevant training.

  • Master’s degree required. Relevant degrees include health or bioscience-related, biomedical sciences, health economics, health policy, epidemiology, public health, etc.
  • 1 - 2 years of relevant experience or working knowledge with literature review methodology is desirable.
  • MS Office suite, database management, and citation management software experience required.
  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to help build and manage team productivity /cohesion.
  • Precision work with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes while responding to changing circumstances and priorities.

Compensation Range: $60,000 - $67,500 DOE
