 The laboratory of Dr. Sabine Mann within the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, is seeking Postdoctoral Associate candidates. The person hired into this position will be working on a USDA-funded collaborative project investigating the effects of extended cow-calf contact or transition milk feeding on neonatal development, immune maturation, as well as cow and calf behavior, health, microbiome, and production outcomes. Most of the effort will be spent overseeing an ambitious animal study and associated data collection and analysis.

Postdoctoral Associates receive competitive salaries according to the Cornell University Postdoctoral Associate stipend system. Start date is negotiable; the position has a duration of one-year with options for renewal. Position expected start date in Spring 2024.

The successful candidate will work on this animal study together with other members of the team as well as collaborate with personnel across Cornell University and beyond. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in dairy cattle research, including health management and husbandry, management of transition cows and calves, data collection, analysis and effective presentation/publication of research findings. Candidates with an Animal Science related Master´s degree or DVM degree in addition to a PhD are preferred. This position will require attention to detail, leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and a passion for hands-on work and caring for research animals. Strong interest in all aspects of the scientific study process is required and possibilities exist at Cornell University to pursue further training in research, teaching, and leadership skills. Previous experience with standard laboratory methods is not necessary. Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in our team, as well as a willingness to learn new methods and techniques as the projects evolve.

Pay Range:

$56,484.00 - $81,000.00

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
