Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Please Note: In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support visa applications. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Description of Vacant Position: To conduct classes in all subject areas of the High School Equivalency (HSE) and pre-HSE programs.

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree in Education, Secondary English Education (7-12 level), Secondary Math or closely related academic field that demonstrates the ability to teach all components (math, reading, science, social studies and writing) of the NYS approved high school equivalency assessment, as well as lower-level topics in math and language skills; three years of related teaching experience; intermediate to advanced computer skills.

Preferred qualifications: Ability and experience to teach on a small and large group basis with continuous bi-weekly student enrollment; experience working with educationally and economically disadvantaged populations; experience teaching remotely; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with students and staff in an enthusiastic and encouraging manner.

In class assignments may be during the day or evening at the Troy location or remote.

The hourly rate this position is $44.00. Hudson Valley offers free tuition waivers for the Adjunct’s spouse and dependents during the semesters in which they are teaching.
