Department Summary
UNT is rapidly expanding its Center for Agile and Adaptive Manufacturing (CAAAM) (caaam.unt.edu), a State of Texas funded multi-million-dollar initiative with a multi-disciplinary focus on further advancing the science and technology of additive manufacturing (AM). CAAAM involves a multi-disciplinary team of researchers from materials science, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, data science, cybersecurity and logistics & supply chain, committed to collaborating on large research projects with an emphasis on additive manufacturing. Since AM of advanced alloys and metals-ceramic composites constitute major focus areas of CAAAM, there is a strong thrust in the center on development of relevant powders. CAAAM has recently acquired a state-of-the-art Tekna powder processing system based on spray drying followed by plasma spherodization of custom-designed alloy powders for AM.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba. 
Position Summary
The position primarily involves carrying out research, training, and education activities related to additive manufacturing (AM). These activities will include experimental and computational approaches. The experimental approach will be based on but not limited to materials processing and manufacturing using various types of additive manufacturing processes, pre and post AM characterization of materials/components for microstructural and functional properties, in-situ AM process diagnostics and material characterization and/or monitoring. The computational activities will include computational approach for additive manufacturing process design, monitoring, and control and modeling for material evolution. The skills desired for th is job also include abilities to interpret experimental and computational results, organization of results, as well as developing appropriate presentation tools for effectively communicating these results. These activities will spread over the sub-areas relevant to AM such as fundamentals of AM, data science and analytics, cybersecurity, logistics & supply chain management that are identified as the thrusts areas within the Center for Agile & adaptive Additive Manufacturing (CAAAM). 
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in engineering and physical science and any other field relevant to the AM thrust areas identified and listed above under job summary.
