Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Specialist (for Accreditation and Assessment) for the Bloustein School of Public Planning and Policy. The Specialist for Assessment and Accreditation operates across multiple accredited programs at Bloustein (Public Policy, Planning and Health Administration graduate and Public Health undergraduate) and is responsible for assessing the effectiveness of academic programs and providing information for making data-driven decisions to improve program quality and student learning outcomes, as well as ensuring that academic programs meet the standards set by regional and programmatic accrediting bodies.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Organizes all assessment and program evaluation-related activities for the school, including the collection of data from various stakeholders, data analysis using appropriate statistical methods, and communication of the results to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintains reporting relationships with various internal and external bodies, including the campus-wide Assessment Council on Learning Outcomes, and external accreditation bodies.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in program evaluation or a related social science field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive experience in program evaluation, large-scale data collection, data management, project management, data analysis, and report writing, preferably in an assessment/internal and/or institutional research context.
  • Theoretical and applied knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative data analysis research methods and design, including project-based data collection utilizing surveys, focus groups, and interviews.
  • Experience in data analysis, data-driven report preparation, and presentation.
  • Excellent oral and written skills as well as interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and interact with faculty and a wide range of other stakeholders.
  • Understanding of program evaluation or a related social science field.
  • Participatory experience in academic and professional accreditations and preparation and execution of accreditation-driven assessment plans.
  • Participatory experience in academic and professional accreditations and preparation and execution of accreditation-driven assessment plans.
  • Experience using Qualtrics Software and Statistical packages such as SPSS/STATA.
Preferred Qualifications

Equipment Utilized
  • Qualtrics Survey Software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Learning Management Systems, particularly Canvas.
  • N’Vivo and a statistical package such as STATA, SPSS or R.
  • Must be adaptable to new technology.
