Posting Summary
The Research Associate III is responsible for the conduct and execution of research experiments following the instructions given by the Principal Investigator of the laboratory team. This will include supporting the research of Principal Investigators and assisting with the research efforts of other members of the laboratory.
Briefly, research in the Madireddy lab focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms that underlie the pathogenesis of cancer-predisposition syndromes and hematological malignancies. We are employing a unique and specialized set of tools, which include our locus-specific single molecule assay to study DNA replication, cytogenetics, and genomics, to test our hypotheses. The Research Associate III will be responsible for assisting with managing the lab and assisting in the execution of these experiments, preparation of reagents and general maintenance. In addition the Research Associate III is expected to attend relevant courses and workshops to learn appropriate scientific methods and procedures.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Master’s degree plus one (1) year of research experience, or a Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of research experience is required. Postgraduate degree in Biological Science degree is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain general laboratory functions is desired, must be able to maintain accurate records, follow laboratory safety guidelines and institutional policies.
  • Must successfully complete mandatory lab safety/shipping training courses, as required by Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Occasional overtime flexibility is required. 
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior laboratory experience in assisting and or performing experiments in molecular biology is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
