The Marcus laboratory at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is searching for an applicant with expertise in cell biology and/or cancer biology. Our laboratory had developed a cell biology approach to extract genomic information from rare cancer cells, and apply this technique to study cancer metastasis and tumor heterogeneity (publications in Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Clinical Cancer Research). We are searching for a post-doctoral fellow with strong cell biology, biomedical engineering, and/or cancer biology experience. This can include experience in microscopy, 3-D cell culture studies, mechanistic biology, or in vivo animal studies. A main goal in the lab is to mentor and train the post-doctoral fellow for success by providing the leadership, writing, and experimental skills necessary to excel in a scientific career. The Marcus lab has had a strong track-record of success in pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training grants and would expect the applicant to apply for a training grant as the project develops.

 

ABOUT WINSHIP:

The Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is located in Atlanta, GA and is the only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Georgia. It offers a unique environment where research and clinical care occur in the same facility, with a highly collaborative and diverse group of scientists, clinicians, and researchers. Winship offers numerous scientific research cores including imaging, genomics, biostatistics, and proteomics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
