Open Postdoctoral position, faculty mentor Merritt Maduke

Stanford University

Job Description

Interested in molecular biophysics of ion channels and transporters? The Maduke laboratory at Stanford University (https://med.stanford.edu/maduke.html ) is seeking a postdoctoral scholar who is curious about the molecular mechanisms. The position involves studies on the CLC family of chloride channels and transporters, which play critical roles in human physiology and pathophysiology. Funding from 3 R01 grants supports diverse new projects, with studies including cryo-EM structure determination, electrophysiological studies of mechanism, and small-molecule inhibitor development, all tightly integrated with results from computational collaborations. Some of our recent work is described here: CLC-2 preprint
The postdoc will join a diverse and friendly team, where members seek to support and collaborate with one another while carrying out independent projects. PI Maduke is committed to supporting her trainees through individual mentoring, through encouraging pursuit of new ideas, and through fostering a collegial lab environment. To augment lab-based training, Stanford’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) offers many courses and resources. As former Chair of the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Postdoctoral Affairs, Prof Maduke has worked closely with OPA, and she encourages postdocs in her lab to take advantage of the personal-growth and professional-development resources that are available.
