Position summary:

Kilgore College is a two-year, comprehensive public community college with a campus in Kilgore and an extension center in Longview, Texas. With approximately 6,000 students, Kilgore College is a student-centered institution characterized by excellence in teaching and learning.

Position responsibilities:

The Full-time Instructor is a Level 2 Medical/Surgical Instructor and assumes responsibility for performance of all functions generally identified by the college as within the realms of the instructor. In addition, the instructor: Participates in planning, implementing and evaluating the teaching-learning process in the classroom, Simulation Lab, Skills Lab or clinical setting. Maintains accurate and complete course records as required by KC. Keeps abreast of current trends in education and nursing practice to improve his/her instructional ability. Maintains public relations with assigned clinical agencies to include assessing the adequacy of available clinical learning experiences. Works as a team for theory instruction, plans and carries out evaluation of nursing techniques. Refers students to appropriate references when indicated.

Minimum Position Requirements:

• Hold a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the states of Texas,
• Master’s or doctorate degree in nursing
• Minimum of 3 years associated work experience,
• Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise and safety in subject area of teaching responsibility.

• Compensation for this 12-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $57,733 for a master’s degree to $66,506 for a doctorate. A high demand stipend is also provided. Overload and summer classes are paid separately

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws. Positions will remain open until filled. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
