Job Summary
Postdoctoral position available for highly motivated individual interested in drug delivery and immune modulation.
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to contribute to investigate drug carriers to modulate immune responses in animal models. Successful postdoctoral candidates must hold or have a closely pending doctoral-level degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, or engineering, preferably with a background in therapeutics and/or drug carriers. Additionally, candidates should have at least two first author publications (published or in press) in English Language peer reviewed journals.
It is highly preferred that candidates have the following skills: nanoparticle characterization, formulation development, nanoparticle stability studies, and mammalian cell culture. It is preferred that the candidates also have one or more of the following skills: flow cytometry, ELISAs, murine models, or therapeutic biodistribution studies. Please include a skill section on your CV when applying. This is an interdisciplinary laboratory where the candidate will be expected to contribute to several aspects of the project from liposomal formulation, materials characterization, to in vitro and in vivo evaluation. The ideal candidate will utilize this position as an opportunity to apply their former training to this exciting project and learn new skills to advance their career.
The ideal candidate will also be highly independent and be able to work collaboratively to advance the specific goals of their project and contribute conceptually to other projects in the laboratory. They must be able to pursue intellectually and technically complex projects through to completion, and interpret scientific data and results. The appointee will be given autonomy to grow as an independent scientist while working as part of the team to accelerate the research objectives of the lab.
The appointee will prepare manuscripts for publication, contribute to grant applications, present findings at seminars and conferences, and contribute to group meetings. The appointee will also be asked to mentor graduate, professional, and undergraduate students in the laboratory.
The Venditto Lab is located at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in the Lee T. Todd Jr. Building, which is designed to foster a collaborative environment and promote cross pollination of ideas across disciplines. The UK College of Pharmacy is ranked #6 in the country. Our lab utilizes innovative approaches to modulate immune responses to understand the molecular underpinnings of disease and develop new therapies that will one day improve patient outcomes.
