Position Summary | The Pardo-Manuel de Villena Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a postdoc in the area of bacterial population genomics and phylogenetics. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing projects focused on the following: 1) Investigating the genetic determinants underlying the evolution of bacterial pathogens associated with antibiotic resistance and their successful transmission in humans; 2) Developing novel computational methods to pinpoint genetic variations within bacterial populations that have undergone positive selection. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | PhD in Microbiology, Epidemiology, Evolution, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics or related fields. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | The successful candidate will have a strong research background in computational evolutionary genetics/genomics, and ideally, experience study bacterial pathogen genomes as well. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Ability to work in multidisciplinary environment is preferred |
