Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Administrative Coordinator for the Department of Labor Studies and Employment Relations. This position is responsible for administrative work central to all academic programs of the Department of Labor Studies and Employment Relations. The position reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Student Services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Schedules undergraduate and master’s courses.
  • Manages multiple essential admissions and student databases.
  • Coordinates student course evaluations.
  • Assists instructors.
  • Maintains accurate information about the academic programs on the web.
  • Provides special permission numbers to students.
  • Directs callers to the right person in the Academic Program office.
  • Handles international student and faculty paperwork correctly.
  • Helps maintain contact with alumni, along with performing occasional clerical work.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Requires two years of relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize efforts under pressure and keep track of multiple ongoing deadlines.
  • Proficiency at micro-computer software and university databases.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with faculty and students in a university setting.
  • Sensitive to concerns of first-generation college students, returning adults, and commitment to inclusion of all types of students.
  • Understand the “why” behind anti-discrimination and privacy protection.
  • Able to articulate what Labor and Employment Relations involves when asked.
Equipment Utilized
  • Experience working with some or all of the programs and databases used regularly, including Salesforce, CSS, CourseAtlas, Rutalmin (secure QWS), the Grad Portal, DICES, Blue, Image Now, ARS, TRS as well as common micro-computer applications including ACCESS preferred.
  • Experience with Canvas desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn to use multiple databases/new software essential.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Willing/able to work in the evening on occasion.

Immunization Requirements
