The Critical Material Institute within the Ames National Laboratory, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research on the synthesis of organic substances related to critical material separation. The project is highly collaborative, including partnerships with other national labs and industrial collaborators. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

 Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field must be completed prior to the start date.


Preferred Qualifications:

 

Demonstrated extensive experience in the synthesis and characterization of small and polymeric molecules using thermos- or electro-catalytic methods.

Experience in standard purification methods of small and polymeric molecules and characterization by tools such as NMR, FTIR, mass spectrometry, etc.

Preferred background in performing formulation, characterization, and evaluation of membranes.

Experience with flow synthesis of organic substances is preferred.

Experience with Design-of-Experiment (DoE) and/or high-throughput experimentation is preferred.
