Summary of Job Duties:
A Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Brian Storrie at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology (https://physiology.uams.edu/). The Storrie laboratory focuses on the underlying role of platelets in determining the structure of differentiated platelet aggregates, thrombi, bleeding cessation, and the formation of occlusive clots. Our in vivo work with mouse models reveals that thrombus formation is structured through the generation of multiple platelet activation states. These findings raise new questions that are best answered through in vitro/ex vivo approaches and may involve in vivo labeled platelet tracking experiments. The Research Associate will conduct both guided and relatively independent research in platelet biology, large-scale, quantitative image analysis, and in vitro analysis of cell differentiation in a cell system in which platelet differentiation occurs without a change in gene expression. The position is funded by the NIH/ National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and is available from October 1, 2023.
