HEALTH SERVICE PSYCHOLOGY – CLINICAL HEALTH PSYCHOLOGIST

 

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is accepting applications for a Clinical Health Psychologist position, open academic rank. Applications will be reviewed beginning immediately and will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled. The successful candidate will provide brief assessments, consults, and psychotherapy (individual, group, couple/family) for adults with medical and psychological concerns. Much of the work for this position will be completed in the Paul W. Seavey Comprehensive Internal Medicine Clinic and potentially other general medical clinics. The psychologist should have experience in treating psychological conditions such as anxiety and depression and assisting in the behavioral and psychosocial management of a range of medical diseases (e.g., diabetes, obesity, tobacco cessation) and related problems (e.g., pain, insomnia). There also will be a focus on helping people with lifestyle changes related to healthy eating, exercise, and substance use, as well as assisting people in coping with major life stresses. Teaching and supervising trainees is expected as part of the position.

Additional Details

 

Applicants should have a strong background in clinical health psychology and integrated care with medically ill populations. They must have a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited graduate program, an APA accredited internship, and at least one-year supervised postdoctoral training. The individual must be licensed or license eligible in Georgia. Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology is required within 7 years of starting this faculty position.
