Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology at theUniversity of Maryland is seeking applications for an Assistant Clinical Professorin the Early Childhood General and Special Education teacher preparationprogram.

Candidates should demonstrate exceptional teaching skills at the
undergraduate level, a high level of organizational skills, a record of
collaboration, and a strong knowledge of early childhood education.
The position is clinical track (with a renewable contract contingent uponfunding and performance) and scheduled to begin in August of 2023.

The Associate Director will have direct, ongoing communication with theDirector of the Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education (EC/ECSE)program and the EC/ECSE program faculty. Specific responsibilities will includeadministrative oversight of the program admissions processes, EC/ECSE coursescheduling and coverage, and school-based partnerships.

Additional responsibilities include teaching in the EC/ECSE program and participation incollege level educator preparation activities and the program approvalprocesses. Scholarship activities will be commensurate with the Appointmentand Promotion Guidelines for Assistant Clinical Professors, to include programevaluation and applied research within partner schools.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Minimum of a doctoral degree in early childhood education, human
development, psychology, or related field.

Experience:
  • Three or more years of experience working with diverse groups of children.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching for 2 or more semesters in a university setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Evidence of the ability to multi-task and work with an array of stakeholders.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Teaching experience at the early childhood level (Birth to third grade in special education and/or PreK to third grade in inclusive classrooms) is highly preferred.
  • Teaching experience in a public school is highly desirable as the vast majority of program graduates accept positions in public schools.
