Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Center of International Democracy and Conflict Management (CIDCM) seeks an in-country senior project manager for aUSAID-funded project in Tamale, Ghana. The candidate will provide valuable coordination and project management support to a broader team comprised of academics and practitioners. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who will be proactive in solving project challenges and ensuring successful implementation. The position is based full-time in Tamale, Ghana.

The project aims to reduce the threat of extremist violence in northern Ghana by improving social trust and cohesion across identity group lines.CIDCM, in partnership with Washington State University,USAID, and local partners in Ghana, has designed a novel People-2-People approach to combat the increasing terrorist threat and achieveUSAIDobjectives. We are conducting community-based intervention activities in approximately 20 different localities in the region, collecting pre- and post-intervention data and implementing other targeted research strategies to test the effectiveness of the interventions. The project takes place in multiple regions of northern Ghana, with headquarters in Tamale.

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with team members based atCIDCM,WSU,WANEP-Ghana, andNORSAAC-Ghana to ensure successful implementation of project activities, from data collection to interventions to evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Master’s degree or higher in international affairs, development, conflict, public policy, the social sciences, or related field.

Experience:
At least five years of experience working in the international development and/or peacebuilding fields.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Familiarity with the Northern Ghana social context.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to collaborate closely with individuals up, down, and laterally (with directors, field staff, USAID personnel, and US-based managers).
  • Comfort/experience in a managerial or implementation role.
  • Familiarity with basic budgeting and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to work cross culturally.
  • Comfort/experience living in a provincial town in a low-income context.
  • Exposure to substantive issues related to peacebuilding and/or community-based activities.
