Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) seeks to hire an Assistant to the
Executive Director to provide professional administrative support to the IMET Executive
Director. This position will operate primarily as the Office Manager in the IMET Executive
Director’s Office. The duties of this position include: managing the Executive Director’s
schedule; making travel arrangements for the Executive Director and visitors; scheduling and
taking minutes for meetings; managing IMET events, including meetings, weekly seminars,
public events, and conferences with local and international collaborators and donors; handling
highly confidential and/or sensitive documents and matters; helping to update the IMET
website; and other administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with little supervision in a high‐paced, high output environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as use of independent judgment, initiative, writing and editing skills to prepare correspondence, and meeting minutes.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Google programs.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Two (2) years of experience in an upper level Assistant position highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with web content management systems and Adobe software is desired.

The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) is a joint University System of
Maryland research institute capitalizing on the strengths of the University of Maryland Center
for Environmental Science (UMCES), the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC),
and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). More information about IMET can be found

Salary range is $42,000‐$51,000 annually and is commensurate with experience. This is an
exempt, contractual position that includes State of Maryland health benefits.
