One postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Nam Chu in Dept. of Cancer Biology and Genetics, College of Medicine at The Ohio State University. The laboratory studies the effects of posttranslational modifications (PTMs) on the molecular regulation of protein kinases related to cancers and neurodegenerative diseases (AD, PD and ALS).

The successful candidate will join a young and motivated research team that uses a wide variety of protein chemistry and biochemistry, peptide synthesis, enzymology, cell biology, human stem cell culture and differentiation to decipher the disease mechanisms, roles of protein kinases and site-specifically equipped PTMs (i.e. phosphorylation, ubiquitin). The candidate will work closely with team members, including the mentors.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can work independently, as well as on team-based projects utilizing well-developed interpersonal skills . Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask are expected. Excellent oral and written communication abilities are also required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong background in biochemistry and cell biology

  • Candidate who is selected will performing eukaryotic (mammalian, insect, human IPSC) cell/neuronal cultures, cloning, protein purification and cell-based assays .

  • Extra experiences in neurobiology, cancer biology, CRISPR and omics studies are encouraged to apply.

Hiring Range on NIH Scale:  $56,484 - $68,604

A Doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline is required. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
