JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in the reproductive laboratory of Dr. Troy L. Ott (https://animalscience.psu.edu/directory/tlo12 ) in the Department of Animal Science at Penn State . This position is located at the Penn State University, University Park campus in the newly opened 100,000 sq/ft Animal, Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Building.

The successful candidate will lead research related to the following specific objectives: (1) Use "omic" tools to decipher the molecular basis for high fertility and functionally confirm candidate genes and pathways associated with establishment and maintenance of pregnancy in dairy cattle. (2) Use in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro approaches to understand the molecular, cellular and systems interactions involved in repeated cycles of successful reproduction. (3) Define approaches to enhance the quality of animals, cows to successfully navigate the transition period and resume cyclicity. In addition to a world class laboratory, shared instrumentation and animal facilities, Penn State provides a rich environment for collaborations within the department, across the College of Agricultural Sciences (https://agsci.psu.edu ) , through the Center for Reproductive Biology and Health (https://www.huck.psu.edu/institutes-and-centers/center-for-reproductive-biology-and-health ) and the Huck Institutes of Life Sciences (https://www.huck.psu.edu/ ). This position will oversee and assist with training of graduate and undergraduate students. The term of this appointment is 2 years with the potential for renewal. Education and Experience:

We are seeking a highly qualified and self-motivated postdoctoral scholar. The position requires a recent Ph.D. (within 4 years) in either animal reproduction, immunology, development, or a related field of study. Candidates should be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the start date and should be willing and capable of leading research with farm animals (primarily dairy cows). Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
