JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Eberly College of Science, Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill one Postdoctoral Researcher position in the area of Particle Astrophysics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in research programs in Dark Matter, led by Profs. Carmona and de Viveiros and will work on the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment and detector R&D. LZ is a next-generation dark matter experiment that will provide unprecedented sensitivity and is poised to become the leading dark matter search over the next decade.


The successful candidate is expected to play a strong role in the LZ data analysis, contribute to the operation of the experiment at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF), mentor graduate and undergraduate students in our group, and work on R&D for the next generation of dark matter detectors at Penn State.


Education and Experience: Requirements include a Ph.D. in Physics, and the ideal candidate should have experience with experimental particle astrophysics or a related field, and previous experience in direct dark matter searches and/or noble liquid detectors will be an advantage.
